Latest data reveals Victoria as Australia’s “heroin capital”
Sewage testing has revealed Victoria as the nation’s heroin capital.
The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission report found Victorians use 348 kilograms of heroin a year, compared with 239 in New South Wales.
However, Victorians are drinking less alcohol than the national average.
Ice use in both Melbourne and regional areas has increased in the past year.
Fentanyl use also increased, however consumption of most other illicit drugs decreased.
