Leading player agent predicting ‘beyond exciting’ opening night of AFL draft

Leading player manager Paul Connors is predicting a “beyond exciting” start to the AFL draft on Monday night.
Gun Bendigo Pioneers midfielder Harley Reid is widely tipped to be this year’s number one draft pick, with West Coast currently holding the prized opening selection.
Connors said that while that pick could be traded on the night, he’s expecting the Eagles to hold onto it and take Reid.
“Unless someone knocks West Coast’s socks off (with a bid for pick one), they’ll hold it,” he told Sam McClure on Wide World of Sports.
“I don’t think we’ll find out until the night and it’s exciting. I think a pick within the top 10 may be traded for a future first-round pick, I think the first night (of the draft) will be beyond exciting.
“The AFL will be licking their lips about how exciting this is.”
The first round of the AFL draft will take place on Monday, while all other picks will be taken on Tuesday night.
