3aw news

Victorians over 50, and those with chronic illnesses, have been warned to be on alert after a legionnaires disease outbreak.

Three men aged between 52 and 72 visited the Melbourne CBD before contracting the potentially fatal bacterial infection in early to mid February.

Victoria’s Deputy chief health officer – Dr Brett Sutton – is urging people to look out for flu-like symptoms.

Around 100 cooling towers in the C-B-D are being tested and disinfected.
