Leigh Matthews says Fremantle and North Melbourne are showing ‘disrespect’ by resting players before finals

AFL legend Leigh Matthews says there’s no doubt Fremantle and North Melbourne are showing ‘disrespect’ by resting players this weekend.

But he says they’re simply doing what the AFL allows them to do.

‘There’s no doubt both Fremantle and the Kangaroos are disrespecting their round 23 fixture,’ Lethal said during his weekly slot on 3AW’s Sports Today.

‘But we think – ‘well, you’re entitled to do that, because that gives you the best chance of playing your best the following week’ – in the start of the finals.

‘You’re allowed to do it.

‘But what I’m amazed at is the AFL, in a sense, ticked it off – as opposed to saying you can do it, but we frown on it.’
