Level crossing removal to cost $1b more than expected

The Andrews Government’s flagship level crossing removal project could cost $1b more than first expected as the stoush over Federal funding continues.
Announcing the fast-tracking of level crossing removal works following the sale of the Port of Melbourne, Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said the entire project would cost between $6-7b.
The government has always said the project would cost $5-6b.
Ms Allan told Nick McCallum the extra money is being used for additional improvements like new stations, better signalling, and longer platforms.
