Libby fined after being caught not wearing seatbelt in car park

You have to wear a seatbelt while driving in a car park.

Libby called 3AW Mornings to vent her frustration after she was booked at Mildura before Christmas.

She said she’d taken her seatbelt off while looking for a parking spot, when she was nabbed.

She was fined $303 and lost three demerit points.

Plenty questioned whether it was fair.

But Acting Superintendent Stuart McGregor assured listeners there was no difference

‘The road rules apply,’ he explained.

‘It’s open and used by the public.’
