Liberal party ditching branding suggests ‘serious electorate troubles’ ahead of state election
Opposition leader Matthew Guy and several other senior colleagues have ditched Liberal branding, sparking fears the opposition party is not in a good position ahead of the state election.
Senior Lecturer in Politics at Monash University, Dr Zareh Ghazarian, believes it could be a tactic to relate more to the people but has his worries with the party.
“The tactic here is that perhaps there would be a stronger personal connection rather than a party connection with these candidates, and I think that would explain partly why the Liberal logo is disappearing,” Dr Ghazarian told Tom Elliott.
“For the Liberal party not to be using it, suggests their internal research is really pointing to some serious electorate troubles for the Liberal party, and it astounds me if this is the case, because this is a party in its eighth year in opposition.”
