Liberal Party flyer sparks controversy, fiery debate erupts on 3AW Drive
This flyer has sparked controversy.
However, Tom Elliott can’t see a problem with it.
The pamphlet is promoting Liberal Party candidate Darrel Taylor in the safe Labor seat of Keysborough, held by Attorney General Martin Pakula.
It’s been criticised for apparent “racist” undertones, with Mr Pakula calling it “disgraceful”.
A fiery debate erupted over the issue on 3AW Drive.
“This flyer is designed to create division and fear in the community,” Shen Narayanasamy, director of GetUp, told Tom Elliott.
However, Tom pointed out there was no mention of race or ethnicity in the flyer.
It led to a wide-ranging debate about Melbourne’s issue with African gangs.
