A controversial Liberal MP faces being booted from the party after attending the same protest as neo-Nazis at the weekend.

Opposition leader John Pesutto will move a motion to expel new upper house MP Moira Deeming from the parliamentary party room at their next meeting.

The member for the Western Metropolitan region was among the crowd at a rally which was crashed by neo-Nazis on the steps of Parliament on Saturday.

Mr Pesutto says it’s not an issue about free speech, rather a member of the parliamentary party associating with people whose views are abhorrent to his values, the values of the Liberal Party and the wider community.

He met with Ms Deeming on Sunday to discuss her involvement in organising, promoting and participating in a rally associated with far right-wing extremist groups and to inform her, her position has become untenable.
