Can you change a car tyre? Can you sew a button onto a shirt? Can you cook a meal from scratch?

If the answer is no, you’re not alone.

Tom Elliot spoke with Melbourne based freelance writer Lisa Marshall, who says Generation Y are losing basic life skills due to today’s digital world.

‘I think a lot of the life skills that our parents learnt and grandparents learnt were taught because there were no digital surroundings,’ Ms Marshall said.

‘They couldn’t google someone to fix something, they had to learn it’.

Marshall is on a crusade for her generation having recently learned how to change a tyre and make her own clothes.
