A handful of students from a regional Victorian school have linked up with Turkish kids at Gallipoli.

Six students, a teacher and principal from East Loddon Secondary College, near Bendigo, travelled to Turkey for Anzac Day.

They were joined by Turkish students from their sister school.

Neil Mitchell spoke with year-eight student Jack Fensham before the ceremony got underway.

“They’re so welcoming,” Jack said of the Turkish students.

“They feel like your brother and sister and it’s just awesome to be here.”

Teacher Sarah Pilkington said it had been a special trip.

“It’s a little bit overwhelming, to be honest,” she said.
