‘Limited’ housing choices pushing essential workers out of Melbourne
Research by the City of Melbourne has found that almost half of the workers essential to the city’s economy live over 20 kilometres away from the CBD.
CEO of Infrastructure Victoria, Dr Jonathan Spears, says that middle income earners are being “locked out” of the housing market in suburbs close to their workplaces.
“The challenge we’ve still got is the choices that people have are limited,” he told Ross and Russel this morning.
