Bob Dylan has been awarded the Nobel Prize.

This has prompted Ross and John to ask the question: are song lyrics literature?

They turned to Melbourne Uni lecturer Larissa McLean Davies to shed some light on the matter.

Dr McLean Davies confirmed song lyrics can indeed be included in the field of literature.

She said literature encompasses all written words that are ‘enduring and impact on society’.

‘Something that people feel is important to carry into the next generation. That’s often how we understand literature,’ she said.

Ross and John then threw it open to the listeners to nominate the most literary song lyrics of all time, with Pink Floyd featuring prominently.
