The City of Whittlesea council has been accused of acting like “scrooges” in snubbing an annual Christmas event in the northern suburbs.

Renee Gaitanis lives in Wollert in Melbourne’s north and is an organiser of an event called “Stardust Way Christmas Lights” and made an appeal to the public to tell Whittlesea council how important the event is in the community.

“We’re quite in love with the Grinch, we think the Grinch is an awesome term, however we’re thinking that the council is acting like scrooges,” Ms Gaitanis told Neil Mitchell.

The event also raises money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which supports sick kids of all ages regardless of disability, injury or illness, raising over $50,000 in the past three years alone!
