Local footy player suspended over racial slur
A local footballer has been suspended for racial vilification.
The incident involved clubs in the Essendon District Football League.
A Hillside reserves player is accused of calling a Westmeadows opponent a “monkey”.
It happened on Saturday, July 14.
The players involved were sent to a reconciliation hearing where the player who was racially vilified accepted the apology from the other player.
He was suspended for one game.
