Local mayor voices concern over plan to resettle ISIS families in Australia
One of the mayors demanding a meeting with the Prime Minister over a plan to resettled Islamic State brides and their children in Australia says it risks unsettling “harmony” in his community.
Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone told Tom Elliott there were more than 10,000 Syrian refugees in his local government area and many were concerned by the proposal that would see the families of ISIS fighters living amongst them.
“We’ve always welcomed people from all over the world, but we need to make sure we keep our community in harmony,” he said.
