Locals get their goat up over farm plan
A goat farm and milk powder production plant planned for Lara past Geelong has been met with passionate objection from locals.
Resident Bronwen Baker says the risk of Q fever, the odour and the noise pollution were among the concerns for the community.
She told Neil Mitchell residents were also concerned about the proximity to the primary school and homes.
“There is nothing wrong with goats – we love goats (but) we are not talking about a few goats wandering around a paddock we are talking about an intensive factory farm,” she said.
“Four and a half thousand goats in a colour bond shed on a small parcel of land and a milking facility and feed lot, all within a kilometre of residential properties.”
