‘Long time coming’: Australian War Memorial unveils sculpture of ‘remarkable’ WWII nurse

The Australian War Memorial has unveiled a sculpture of World War II prisoner of war and nurse Vivian Bullwinkel.

Channel 7 reporter, Nick McCallum, says the sculpture is the first time a woman has been celebrated in the 82-year history of the war memorial.

“It was campaigned for, they raised funds for years – the College of Nursing – and today they are celebrating a remarkable woman,” he told Neil Mitchell.
