Lord mayor calls on public to nominate women for statues
The City of Melbourne is inviting the public to nominate prominent women they want to see immortalised on statues across the city.
Lord mayor Sally Capp says of the 580 statues within the City of Melbourne area, only nine are of women. Of the 25 statues on council-owned land, just five are women.
“We want to hear the stories of women who have added a significant value or made a contribution to the city,” she told Ross and Russel.
