The Melbourne Star observation wheel is set to re-open in the next 16 months, after a new $11m investment deal was committed to by Swiss and American backers.

Melbourne Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece had his say on the re-opening of the wheel, saying Docklands have the “best views of the sunset.”

“The new star will attract 300,000 visitors in its first 12 months,” Reece said on 3AW Drive.
