Lord Mayor plays down concerns about Melbourne’s soaring population

The Lord Mayor has downplayed concerns about Melbourne’s soaring population.

Council data released today shows 28,000 new residential apartments have been built in the city in the past decade.

Sally Capp told Neil Mitchell while there are infrastructure issues to address, Melbourne is not at capacity.

“The data tells us that we are not,” she said.

“We’ve still got plenty of opportunity to welcome people into the city of Melbourne.”
