Lord Mayor Robert Doyle hits back at United Nations over Melbourne’s homeless ‘ban’
Lord Mayor Robert Doyle has fired back at the United Nations, telling a senior official to ‘get their facts straight’ about his plan for Melbourne’s homeless.
The UN’s special rapporteur on the right to housing, Leilani Farha, claims the plan to outlaw people camping in the city is a ‘serious international human rights concern.’
But Cr Doyle hit back on 3AW on Thursday.
‘I take it the United Nations has successfully solved Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, most of Africa, Myanmar and now they can turn their attention to the bylaws of the City of Melbourne,’ he said.
