Lucky escape for four people after suspicious fire near Geelong
A woman has suffered smoke inhalation while helping four people escape a suspicious blaze in the state’s south-west.

The blaze started in an unoccupied home on McDonald Drive in Winchelsea at about midnight.
The property was unoccupied, but the fire quickly spread to a neighbouring property, causing significant damage to both homes.
Four people from the neighbouring property were lucky to escape without injury, however a woman from another home in the street suffered smoke inhalation while trying to assist at the scene.
The fire is being treated as suspicious.
A crime scene has been established and an arson chemist will attend the scene today.
