‘Magic pudding economics’: Jess Wilson reacts to latest Suburban Rail Loop news
State opposition leader Jess Wilson says the Allan government is using “magic pudding economics”, after unveiling its plan to pay for the Suburban Rail Loop.
Existing land and windfall taxes will raise almost $6 billion over 40 years, with a developer charge in SRL precincts to apply from 2027, and a car-park levy will kick in from 2035.
Ms Wilson has told Heidi Murphy there’s no way the first stage of the project still costs $34.5 billion dollars, which was estimated in 2021.

Ms Wilson was also questioned on the release of the latest crime statistics, as well as details surrounding Brad Battin’s recent trip to China.
