Major bus overhaul touted as fix for Melbourne’s transport problems

Victoria’s infrastructure advisory body is calling for a network of dedicated bus lanes and a dramatic increase in the number of bus services to ease Melbourne’s transport woes.
Infrastructure Victoria found a whopping 30 per cent of Melburnians have never caught a bus, even though 80 per cent live within 400 metres of a stop.
Executive director of Bus Association Victoria, Chris Lowe, says Melburnians don’t use buses because they run infrequently — with only one bus every 40 minutes in many areas.
