Armed fugitive shot dead by police in Victoria’s north

Fugitive Stanley Turvey has been shot dead by police at Ardmona, near Shepparton.

Turvey had been on the run since Monday, after he allegedly shot at police, kidnapped a man at gunpoint, stole a car, and assaulted a woman in Yarrawonga.

Police attended an Ardmona address just after 10.15am where they located Turvey, who was armed.

He was shot by police and died at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives will investigate the incident with oversight by Professional Standards Command.
