There are major delays coming in from Melbourne’s west after a fatal crash on the Western Ring Road overnight.

A motorcyclist lost control of his bike on the Ring Road at Laverton North, near the Princes Freeway on-ramp Geelong-bound, about 12.25am.

The driver of a Honda CRV managed to stop but a truck then hit that car, as well as the motorbike.

The motorcyclist, a man, died at the scene.

There were no other passengers, however a passenger in the Honda was trapped for some time.

Chris Miller from VicRoads says closures could remain in place throughout the morning peak, causing major delays

“The scene is under the control of the major crash instigation unit,” he said.

“In the meantime, we’re doing everything we can to alter traffic lights in surrounding areas to ease the flow.”

Alternative routes including Fitzgerald Road, Boundary Road and Old Geelong Road.
