Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says One Nation leader Pauline Hanson is setting a dangerous precedent by renewing her calls for a Muslim ban in Australia.

The controversial Senator has again argued for a pause in Muslim migration following the London terror attack.

Speaking with Neil Mitchell, the Prime Minister said not all Muslims were extremists

‘If the problem is terrorism, policies like that would only make it worse,’ he said on 3AW Mornings.

‘Demonising the Muslim community, or attributing to all Muslims responsibility for the crimes of a tiny percentage, is exactly what the terrorists want.’

Meanwhile, the PM also ruled out taxpayer funds being used to help keep the Hazelwood power station operating.

He said its closure would not compromise the security of the country’s power system.

‘It won’t make the risks of blackouts greater,’ he said.

The Hazelwood power station shuts next week.
