Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has ‘guaranteed’ he’ll legislate same-sex marriage if a majority of Australians vote ‘yes’ in a non-binding plebiscite.

Speaking with Neil Mitchell for the final time before Saturday’s election, Mr Turnbull also dismissed concerns the plebiscite would unleash hateful and bigoted views.

‘I’m very confident the Australian people will have a very respectful and civilised discussion,’ he said.
