The Prime Minister is reluctant to discipline a senior MP who has labelled US Presidential candidate Donald Trump ‘a dropkick.’

The comment was made by Josh Frydenberg, while the NSW parliament has labelled Mr Trump a ‘revolting slug.’

Malcolm Turnbull admits some of Mr Trump’s comments should be condemned but has told Neil Mitchell he won’t go further than that.

‘As your Prime Minister, it’s my job to lead this nation and do so in our engagement with other countries, in a manner that respects their own internal democratic processes,’ he said.

‘I’m not going to go any further into engaging in the US election.’
