Man arrested after homemade explosive device found in Footscray

A man has been arrested and the bomb squad called in following the discovery of a homemade explosive device in Footscray.

Westgate Division Response Unit officers located the device inside a property on Swaby Square while executing a warrant at about 9am.

A man aged in his 30s has been arrested.

An investigation remains ongoing.
