Man arrested in early morning raids accused of financially supporting Islamic State
A Melbourne man charged with allegedly raising funds for an ISIL fighter in Syria has been denied bail.
Isa Kocoglu was arrested at his Hampton Park home this morning as part of a joint operation involving Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police.
The 43-year-old is charged with supporting persons engaged in the Syrian conflict, police will allege to have raised funds, and administered a website used by people who support ISIL ideology.
It’s understood the ISIL member is American convert, John Georgelas.
He was refused bail.
The disability pensioner has been remanded in custody and will face court again on January 29.
