A man who suffered serious injuries when he was allegedly bashed by two men while coming to the aid of two women they were harassing on Chapel Street is in need of help.

The shocking incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning.

Johnny Tostevin was left unconscious, suffering facial trauma that requires plastic surgery to fix, as well as a shattered and dislocated ankle that required emergency surgery.

Police have charged two men in relation to the incident.

A 20-year-old man and 26-year-old man were charged with a number of offences including intentionally cause serious injury, conduct endangering life and assault.

They have both been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 26, 2019.

Johnny is self-employed and faces an extended period without work or income protection.

His sister, Maddie, spoke with Tom Elliott on Tuesday.
