A Victorian man says he can’t bring himself to tell his elderly mother about a mystery Centrelink bill worth $64,000.

David Bladin told 3AW Mornings the ‘government aged care charge’ came completely out of the blue and he couldn’t pay it.

His 94-year-old mother has been in a private facility for the past three years.

She doesn’t know about the bill.

‘She’s 94 ? she doesn’t need to know that,’ he told Tony Jones.

Mr Bladin said he was worried others might get blindsided by similar charges.
