Man caught up in worrying myGov scam speaks out

A man has explained how hackers have gone after his Australian Tax Office (ATO) account, gaining access to sensitive data in the process.

Shane (not his real name) explained to Jacqui Felgate how interstate-based hackers exposed his tax records.

“I was told my ATO account was compromised,” he told 3AW Drive.

“These guys are not just targeting Medibank and Optus, they’re going after the ATO which is governmental stuff.”
