Man critical after being struck by car in Springvale South

A man is fighting for life in hospital after being found unconscious with critical injuries on a road in Melbourne’s south-east.

The man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was found lying on Paterson Road in Springvale South at about 4.30am.

Paramedics say he was unconscious with injuries to his head abdomen and spine.

The 31-year-old was taken to The Alfred hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Police say the driver of a Mazda who struck the man, a 50-year-old woman, stopped at the scene and is assisting police.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined. 

Paterson Road remains closed while police are at the scene. 

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
