Man cuts woman’s throat in shocking daylight mugging at St Kilda
Detectives are calling for witnesses to a terrifying knife attack in residential St Kilda.
They are hunting a man who slit a woman’s throat in broad daylight as she went for a walk on November 29.
The victim, aged in her 30s, was attacked near a laneway at Inverleith Court about 3.30pm.
She was approached by the man, who produced a knife and demanded her purse.
When she refused, the man cut her to the neck before stealing her purse.
She had her wallet stolen but managed to survive the ordeal and ran home to call police.
But the man remains on the loose.
A digital image of has been published online in the hope that somebody recognises him.
Port Phillip CIU Senior Constable Josh White told Tony Jones the man was not known to the victim.
“She was just doing some shopping, she just left her house, and she’s looked to go down the laneway and was approached by the man,” Senior Constable White said.
“She was traumatised at the time.”

The man is described as Caucasian, about six-foot-tall, had sores around his mouth and was wearing a bright blue hat at the time.
