Homicide detectives are investigating after a man died after being arrested in Melbourne’s north yesterday.

The man was initially seen attempting to break into a car on Hothlyn Drive in Craigieburn at about 2.30pm.

He was confronted by resident and a short scuffle ensued.

Emergency services arrived a short time later and the man was arrested.

Paramedics treated the man however he died at the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Two men were last night in custody, assisting police with their enquires.

Nine News reporter at the scene, Shuba Krishnan, says a neighbour saw a man who she believes was the now deceased man before the incident.

“We spoke to one neighbour who said they saw who they believed to be the man earlier … he had a graze on his face, he was disorientated, wandering around the street,” she told Neil Mitchell.
