Man detained and patrons evacuated, as chaos ensues at Avalon Airport

A man has been detained by police at Avalon Airport this morning during a security screening.

The domestic terminal of the airport was evacuated following the location of a suspicious item during the security screening process.

“The matter is now being managed by police and any further enquiries should be directed to Victoria Police”, a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

The airport has since been reopened, and operations have resumed.

The building was evacuated while a robot scanned the package, revealed to contain an electronic hair removal device, and a hot chocolate container.
