Man dies climbing Uluru
A Japanese tourist has died while climbing Uluru.
The 66-year-old man collapsed on the Northern Territory rock around 4pm yesterday about halfway through the climb.
Bystanders performed CPR but he was unable to be revived.
A helicopter eventually retrieved the man, where he was taken to a nearby clinic and pronounced dead.
The man is the 36th person to die while climbing since records began.
The rock climb is set to officially close in 2019.
