Man drowns after rescuing his two children at beach on Great Ocean Road

A man has drowned at Skenes Creek beach.

Emergency services were called after a 41-year-old Sydenham man got into trouble in the water.

Victoria Police understands the man was attempting to rescue his two children when he started to struggle.

A family member went to his assistance but he was unable to be revived.

Two boys, aged 12 and 8, were rescued safely.
