A man has suffered life-threatening injuries in a brawl at a busy shopping centre in Melbourne’s west.

An altercation has broken out between two men and a group of youths in the food court of Watergardens Shopping Centre shortly after 7pm on Wednesday.

One of the men — a 19-year-old from Sunbury — suffered life-threatening stab wounds, and this morning is in a critical condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Local police and protectives services officers arrested five youths at the nearby Watergardens train station.

A 14-year-old St Albans boy has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, while three 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old have been charged with affray.

Police are calling on anyone who witnessed the fight, or who has mobile phone footage, to come forward to Crime Stoppers.
