Man arrested after woman found dead in Maryborough

A man has been arrested following the death of a woman in central Victoria this morning.

The victim, who is yet to be formally identified, was found with serious injuries inside a home on Alma Street in Maryborough about 3.45am.

She was treated by paramedics but couldn’t be revived.

A 39-year-old Maryborough man was arrested nearby just before midday and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Homicide squad detectives are calling on witnesses to come forward.
