An elderly man has been arrested after a shooting at Mitcham.

A man his 30s has been taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition after he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

A fight is believed to have broken out between the pair at a Cochrane Street home before police were called around 11.30 on Monday night.

The two men are known to each other but not believed to be related.

The owner of the home, a man aged in his 70s, suffered minor facial injuries.

He’s assisting police.
