Man killed after truck trailer dislodges and slams into ute at Coleraine
A trailer has dislodged from a truck on the Glenelg Highway, killing the driver of an oncoming ute in the state’s west.
Police say the driver of the ute, a man aged in his 60s, died at the scene.
Assistant Commissioner for Road Safety Doug Fryer told Neil Mitchell it’s the eleventh fatal crash involving a truck so far this year, which is a significant increase on last year.
‘It’s just an absolutely tragedy,’ he said.
The Glenelg Highway at Coleraine remains closed in both directions.
The truck driver is assisting police as they investigate what caused the trailer to dislodge.
