Man killed attempting tram squeeze, pedestrian injured

A driver has died trying to squeeze past a tram in Preston.

The man accelerated trying to get in front of a tram when he clipped a parked car while travelling in-bound on Plenty Rd shortly after midnight.

He the veered left, smashing through the front brick fence of a home at the corner of Margaret Grove and Plenty Road.

The man died at the scene.

A pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being hit by flying shrapnel.

All lanes of Plenty Road are now open.
