Man killed following police pursuit at Northcote

A man has died following a police pursuit in Northcote.

Police tried to intercept a car on Dundas Street, in relation to a traffic matter, but the driver failed to stop and allegedly sped off, turning onto Victoria Road.

The car collided with a parked vehicle then continued driving on, later crashing into a fence and two parked cars.

A man believed to be the driver was lying on the road.

Police attempted to help him, but he died at the scene.

He’s yet to be formally identified.

An investigation has been launched, with the Professional Standards Command notified.
