Man killed, several others hurt, as petrol tanker flips in nightmare crash on Calder Freeway

A man is dead and six others injured after car was completely crushed in a nightmare smash on the Calder Freeway.
The freeway took some 20 hours to be fully re-opened after a petrol tanker flipped in the crash involving at least half a dozen other vehicles.
The tanker crushed a car, killing a 49-year-old Ascot Vale man, when it rolled near the Milleara Road exit around 8.40am on Tuesday.
Six others were taken to hospital with varying injuries.
They’re all in a stable condition.
The crash has been described as one of the worst Melbourne has seen.
