Man rams police car and drive’s over foot, then released on bail

A man who allegedly ran over a police officer’s foot and rammed a police vehicle in Wantirna South last night as walked free on bail.

Police were called to Roselyn Crescent amid reports of an erratic driver about 9.45pm.

When the officers went to approach the vehicle on foot, the man behind the wheel drove straight at them, and drove over one of the officers’ feet.

The driver, 39, then rammed a police car and smashed into a tree.

He was arrested and charged with multiple offences but released on bail to face court on October 10.

The officer who had his foot run over was taken to hospital for treatment.
