A witness who can be heard shouting, “Shoot him!” repeatedly in a recording of the Flinders St incident on Saturday has criticised the police response.

Speaking to Neil Mitchell, Nik Jerkovic said police “haven’t learnt” from the Bourke St incident earlier this year.

“I mean this with all respect, it took them forever to even get to the situation,” Nik said.

“The silliest part was the wind, you could see the pepper spray not even going near him.

“He had the full face helmet on.

“What the hell is the pepper spray going to do?”

A teenager has since been charged.
